Things to think about when choosing wedding jewellery
Many things add to your wedding day to make it special, you’ve spent ages agonising over your flowers and the table decorations and you probably feel the same way about your bridal jewellery. Believe it or not your wedding jewellery is as important as your wedding dress, but thankfully it isn’t going to cost anywhere near as much. Your wedding jewellery should compliment your wedding dress and should pick up on the detailing. Before you run out to purchase your jewellery you should take into consideration the type of wedding you’re having. If your getting married abroad, dramatic chokers and thick cuff bracelets might be too much for the relaxed atmosphere of a beach wedding.
Consider the neckline of your wedding dress before choosing a bridal necklace, for example pendants and Y shape necklaces look fantastic with a plunging neckline and halter-necks. Chokers look amazing with a straight cut neckline as they mirror the horizontal lines. If your wedding dress has coloured crystals such as red (often referred to as Siam) then choose wedding jewellery which also incorporates the same colour.
If you’re planning on wearing you hair up, buy drop bridal earrings, these will make your neck look longer and more elegant. Depending on how comfortable you are wearing dangling earrings, choose larger earrings if you’re not wearing a necklace. If you are wearing a necklace, keep your earrings simple and wear a sparkling crystal drop instead of chandelier styles.
A sparkling crystal bracelet looks good on slender arms. If your wrists are chunky, then choose a thicker bracelet as a delicate one won’t have such an impact.
When it comes to choosing the metal for your wedding jewellery, you have 2 main options, silver or gold. If your dress is created from material using warm tones such as champagne or coffee then opt for gold, the same is true if you have gold detailing in your dress. Silver works better with the colder tones such as Diamond ice and those other off white shades which have a hint of blue. Hopefully you’ve chosen a shade that fits with your own skin tones, so if you’ve done this bit right you can’t go wrong choosing your jewellery.
If you choose high quality wedding jewellery, it should last a very long time, even if you wear it again for special occasions such as anniversaries and other formal events.
Your wedding jewellery shouldn’t overpower your wedding dress, and no one item should fight for the spot light unless you have a really dramatic piece that you want everyone to notice.
